1. Is it only fish that you serve?
We do specialize in fish and shellfish, but we do also offer a reasonable selection of meats, poultry and pasta dishes, making sure that all our patrons can enjoy a superb meal even if fish is not their first choice.
2. I am Celiac. What can i eat?
Understandably the celiac society has included us as one of their top recommended restaurants in Malta. This is because over 85% of our menu is Gluten free, we have a variety of Gluten free pasta, breads, crackers and desserts in which you could indulge and enjoy a care free dinner. We take very seriously any allergies or/ and cross contamination and have built a reputation amongst the local celiac community for our strict total quality management systems in line with international food hygiene standards.
3. What if i am a vegetarian or a vegan?
Ix- Xlukkajr restaurant offers a selection of a la minute vegetarian dishes – vegetable ratatouille, vegetable tians, couscous morocco and many other dishes are daily available for any demanding client, all you need to do is enjoy the surroundings and a nice glass of locally grown wine.
4. I have a private function, do you hire the restaurant?
Ix- Xlukkajr has a private area in the upstairs restaurant, the area takes up to 80 covers (depending on the table setup) therefore feel free to contact us so that we can better understand your needs and be flexible accordingly. We do not charge private room hire unless it is a Sunday morning or a Public Holiday- in that case it is best recommended to call us in advance for more details.
5. I still do not know where the restaurant is! Could you help me with the directions?
Most of the Maltese road signs showing the directions to Marsaxlokk as M’Xlokk instead of Marsaxlokk. You do not worry as it is the same village. Drive past the Marsovin vineyards on both sides of the road and proceed further down the road, turn right the minute you see the Carrubia restaurant signage and you will end up in another cross roads. On the left hand side there is Tartarun restaurant and on the right hand side the village square. Facing you is the Bank of Valletta A.T.M machine and just besides it is Ix- Xlukkajr Restaurant – facing the promenade and the local parish church.
6. Is there a dress code?
We have guests arrive in business casual attire, while others prefer a more casual style.
7. What types of payment do you accept?
We accept Cash, Cheques, HSBC Quickcash, BOV Cashlink, Visa, MasterCard and American Express.
8. May we just walk in with out a reservation?
Of course we are happy to seat walk-in guests when seating is available. However to avoid disappointment reservations are suggested.
9. Do you have outside seating?
Yes, we do have tables in the front of our building that you may enjoy lunch or dinner on. Of course if the weather permits!
10. Is smoking permitted at your restaurant?
In Malta, smoking is banned in all enclosed public spaces, including public transportation, clubs and restaurants. Smoking is only permitted in our outside seating.
11. How far in advance do we need to make a reservation?
If you are planning to hosting a large party, we suggest you make your reservation as far in advance as possible. One to two months is a good guideline. If you are making a reservation for a smaller number, then usually a few days is enough time. Please note that during the Holidays or any special event such as Valentine‘s Day, we book up very fast.
12. What is the maximum number you can serve in your restaurant?
Our restaurant can accommodate 38 covers inside, 80 covers upstairs and 80 covers outside.
